Hydraulic applications pose challenging environments for seals. Hydraulic seals must withstand high pressure, high temperature, and lateral forces inside the cylinder in addition to preventing fluid leakage. In these applications, the function of hydraulic seals extends far beyond preventing fluid leakage.
Hydraulic rod seals prevent leakage from the cylinder to the outside of the system, while hydraulic piston seals prevent fluid passage around the piston. This allows pressure to build up on one side of the piston, enabling the cylinder to move forward or backward. Bearing rings guide the piston and piston rod inside the hydraulic cylinder, absorbing lateral forces and preventing metal-to-metal contact. Wiper seals prevent contamination by scraping dirt, foreign particles, and moisture off the piston as it enters the cylinder.
